About

The Tuzigoot River Access Point (RAP) is a part of the Verde River Greenway State Natural Area (SNA) which was designated in 1986 to preserve and protect the Verde River and its corridor of riverside habitat. This section of the Verde River Greenway SNA is managed by Dead Horse Ranch State Park. The Tuzigoot RAP serves as a launch point for outdoor enthusiasts to access the Verde River with their kayaks and other small watercraft.

Arizona State Parks began acquiring property around the Tuzigoot RAP in 1986 and made its most recent acquisition in 2004, resulting in a total of 78 acres at the site. In 2012, the Town of Clarkdale entered into an agreement with AZ State Parks to cooperatively manage 69 acres of the land as part of the Verde River at Clarkdale area.
